Special agent James Cronley Jr. finds that fighting both ex-Nazis and the Soviet NKGB can lead to strange bedfellows, in the dramatic new Clandestine Operations novel about the birth of the CIA and the Cold War.
The Enemy of My Enemy by W.E.B. Griffin, William E. Butterworth IV (Clandestine Operations #5)
English | 2018 | Military Thriller | ePUB | 942 KB
A month ago, Cronley managed to capture two notorious Nazi war criminals, but not without leaving some dead bodies and outraged Austrian police in his wake. He’s been lying low ever since, but that little vacation is about to end. Somebody-Odessa, the NKGB, the Hungarian Secret Police?-has broken the criminals out of jail, and he must track them down again.
But there’s more to it than that. Evidence has surfaced that in the war’s last gasps, Heinrich Himmler had stashed away a fortune to build a secret religion, dedicated both to Himmler and to creating the Fourth Reich. That money is still out there in the hands of Odessa, and that infamous organization seems to have acquired a surprising-and troubling-ally. Cronley is fast finding out that the phrase “the enemy of my enemy is my friend” can mean a lot of different things, and that it is not always clear which people he can trust and which are out to kill him.
Nothing Sacred
A play by Canadian playwright George F. Walker. Call them Yippies or punks or anarchists or nihilists, every age suffers those whose life mission is to tear down institutions and violate traditions. The archetype of the breed was created by Ivan Turgenev in his 1862 novel 'Fathers and Sons,' and he comes to the stage with all of his fury intact in George F. Walker's adaptation, 'Nothing Sacred.' VARIETY Lovers of Russian fiction will be aware is, a dramatization of Turgenev's famous novel, 'Fathers and Sons.' It Is a freestanding theater piece pervasively implausible, sometimes confusing, yet always alive and entertaining. On one level, the play details a battle for the soul of Arkady Kirsanov, who returns from St. Petersburg to find the family farm tottering, the peasants muttering discontent, and his father in blubbering love with a servant who has borne him a son. The lad feels a natural empathy with the folks at home. But there’s a devil on his shoulder in the person of cynical classmate Bazarov, whom Arkady worships as a “force of nature.” (He himself is just “a force of nature in training.”) Contemptuous of all ideals, capricious and bereft of tact, nihilist Bazarov sweeps into the Kirsanov household determined to make mischief while reinforcing Arkady’s role as his chief acolyte. Fall 2002 This play is set in an era when very little was left to be held sacred. Every aspect of life was seen as broken--marriage and romantic relationships, family loyalty and love, ideas of class, authority, and principles--all were seen as corrupt and outmoded aspects of culture. I am amazed by the remarkable parallels between Russia in the 1860s and the U.S. in the 1960s. Among the radical intelligentsia, the young women were cutting their hair short and practicing free love, the young men were growing their hair long and wearing blue-tinted sunglasses, and everywhere the 'establishment' was being criticized, undermined, and even physically attacked. As critic Robert Wallace observes in his preface to the play, 'The more Bazarov asserts his nihilism, .. the more he ends up telling everybody he loves them; the more he sets out to destroy the existing order, the more he affects reconciliation amongst the people he meets.' Perhaps Bazarov, like any other young radical, is motivated by a deeper intuition of how the world ought to be. As parents struggle with the radical ideas of their children, it is sometimes difficult to hold on to love, forgiveness, and reconciliation. We hope you are enriched by the experiences this play offers, as we have been. https://www.dordt.edu/arts/theatre/past_seasons/nothing_sacred.shtm l Dave Walker Ct![]() God In Icu Dave Walker Download Torrent Full
